Before the race started Brian Johnson Jr, had dominated the the series
to the point where all he needed was to finish in the 12 to ensure he
would win the season championship. taking it easy isn't Brian Johnson
Jrs style as he edged out teammate Ron Dexter in the SUPERSEAL #72 for
the pole position and almost broke the track record in the process, a
track record that Brian Johnson Jr holds.
With Brian Johnson Jr in the pole position, challanger Brian Levant
qualified 4th. Half way through the race it seemed Brian Johnson Jr had
all but wrapped up the Championship, that is until the caution flag
flew.
On the ensuing green flag, Brian Johnson Jr stepped on the gas and
everybody in the stands could hear the rear end of the car break. Brian
Johnson Jr pitted and the team frantically tryed in vain to get the
SUPERSEAL #76 car back on the track. Fortunately Brian Johnson Jr had
earned enough points by winning the pole position and leading for the
most laps to win the 2009 ARCA West Championship.
